3 Reasons to Invest in Bitcoin Now - Lyn Alden

The White Dragon : A Canadian Dragon Portfolio

Alright guys, Ive been working on this for a while and a post on here by a guy describing his portfolio here was the final kick in the ass for me to put this together. I started writing this to summarize what Im doing for my friends who are beginners, and also for me to make some sense of it for myself
Hopefully parts of it are useful to you, and also ideally you guys can point out errors or have a suggestion or two. I'm posting this here as opposed to investing or canadianinvestor (blech) because they're just gonna tell me to buy an index fund.
This first section is a preamble describing the Canadian tax situation and why Im doing things the way that I am. Feel free to skip it if you dont care about that. Also, there might be mistake regarding what the laws are here so dont take my word for it and verify it for yourself please.
So here in Canada we have two types of registered accounts (theres actually more but whatver). There is the TFSA "Tax Free Savings Account", and RRSP "Registered Retirement Savings Account"
For the sake of simplicity, from the time you turn 18 you are allowed to deposit 5k (it changes year to year based on inflation etc)in each of them. That "room" accumulates retroactively, so if you haventdone anything and are starting today and you are 30 you have around 60k you can put in each of them. The prevailing wisdom is that you should max out the TFSA first and you'll see why in a minute.

TFSA is post tax deposits, with no capital gains or other taxes applied to selling your securities, dividends or anything else. You can withdraw your gains at any time, and the amount that you withdraw is added to the "room" you have for the next year. So lets say I maxed out my TFSA contributions and I take out 20k today, on January of next year I can put back in 20k plus the 5 or whatever they allow for that year. You can see how powerful this is. Theres a few limitations on what is eligable to be held in the TFSA such as bitcoin/bitcoin ETFs, overseas stocks that arent listed on NYSE, TSX, london and a few others. You can Buy to Open and Sell to Close call and put options as well as write Covered Calls.

The RRSP is pre-tax deposits and is a tax deferred scheme. You deposit to lower your income tax burden (and hopefully drop below a bracket) but once you retire you will be taxed on anything you pull out. Withdrawing early has huge penalties and isnt recommended. You are however allowed to borrow against it for a down payment as a first time home buyer. The strategy with these is that a youngperson entering the workforce is likely to be in a fairly low tax bracket and (hopefully) earns more money as they get older and more skilled so the RRSP has more value the greater your pre-taxincome is. You can also do this Self Directed. Its not relevant to this strategy but I included it for the sake of context.
Non registered accounts ( or any other situation, such as selling commercial real estate etc) is subject to a capital gains tax. In so far as I understand it, you add all your gains and losses up at the end of the year. If its a positive number, you cut that number IN HALF and add it to your regular pre-tax income. So if I made 60k from the dayjob and 20k on my margin account that adds up to 70k that I get taxed on. if its a loss, you carry that forward into the next year. Theres no distinction between long term and short term. Also physical PMs are treated differently and I'll fill that part in later once I have the details down.
The reason why all that babble is important is that my broker Questrade, which isnt as good as IB (the only real other option up here as far as Im aware) has one amazing feature that no other broker has: "Margin Power"
If you have a TFSA and a Margin account with them, you can link them together and have your securities in the TFSA collateralise your Margin account. Essentially, when it comes to the Maintenance Excess of the Margin Account QT doesnt care if its in the TFSA *or* the Margin!
You can see how powerful this is.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So as you can tell by the title, a lot of this is heavily inspired by Chris Cole's paper "The Allegory of the Hawk and the Serpent". You can read it here: https://www.artemiscm.com/welcome#research
Between it, his interviews and my mediocre options skills at the time my mind was blown. Unfortunately I didnt know how to do the Long Volatility part until after the crash in March but I've since then had nothing but time to scour the internet and learn as much as I could.
The way I interpret this isnt necessarily "what you should have right now", but what abstracted model they were able to backtest that gave them the best performance over the 90 years. Also, a lot of my portfolio I already had before I started trying to build this.
As such my allocations dont match the proportions he gave. Not saying my allocations are better, just showing where they are at this time.
I'm going to describe how I do Long Volatility at the end rather than the beginning since the way *I* do it wont make sense until you see the rest of the portflio.

Physical PMs 22%
I'm not sure wether he intended this to be straight up physical gold or include miners and royalty streaming companies so I will just keep this as physical.
I consider Silver to be a non-expiring call option on gold, so that can live here too. I am actually *very* overweight silver and my strategy is to convert a large portion of it to gold (mostly my bars) to gold as the ratio tightens up.
If youre into crypto, you can arguably say that has a place in this section.
If an ETF makes sense for part of your portfolio, I suggest the Sprott ones such as PHYS. Sprott is an honest business and they actually have the metal they say they have. If you have enough, you can redeem your shares from the Royal Canadian Mint. The only downside is that they dont have an options chain, so you cant sell covered calls etc. Simple enough I suppose.
One thing to bear in mind, there is a double edged sword with this class of assets. They're out of the system, theyre nobody's business but your own and theres no counter party. That unfortunately means that you cant lever against it for margin or sell covered calls etc. You can still buy puts though (more on that later)

Commodity Trend (CTA) 10%
https://youtu.be/tac8sWPZW0w
Patrick Ceresna gave a good presentation on what this strategy is. Until I watched this video I just thought it meant "buy commodities". A real CTA does this with futures also so aside from the way he showed, there are two other ETFs that are worth looking at.
COM - This is an explicit trend following ETF that follows a LONG/FLAT strategy instead of LONG/SHORT on a pile of commodity futures. So if they get a "sell" signal for oil or soybeans they sell what they have and go to cash.
COMT- Holds an assortment of different month futures in different commodities, as well as a *lot* of various related shares in producers. Its almost a one stop shop commodities portfolio. Pays a respectable dividend in December
If you want to break the "rules" of CTA, and include equities theres a few others that are also worth looking at
KOL- This is a coal ETF. The problems with it are that a lot of the holdings dont have much to do with coal. One of them is a tractor company. A lot of the companies are Chinese so theres a bit of a red flag.
Obviously Thermal Coal, the kind used for heating and powerplants isnt in vogue and wont be moving forward...but coking coal is used for steel manufacturing and that ain't going anywhere. The dividend is huge, pays out in December. A very very small position might be worth the risk.
Uranium- I'm in URA because thats the only way for me to get exposure to Kazatoprom (#1 producer), which is 20% of the holdings. The other 20% is Cameco (#2 producer)and then its random stuff.
Other than that I have shares in Denison which seems like its a good business with some interesting projects underway. I'm still studying the uranium space so I dont really have much to say about it of any value.
RSX- Russia large caps. If you dont want to pick between the myriad of undervalued, high dividend paying commodity companies that Russia has then just grab this. It only pays in December but it has a liquid options chain so you can do Covered Calls in the meantime if you want.
NTR- Nutrien, canadian company that was formed when two others merged. They are now the worlds largest potash producer. Pretty good dividend. They have some financial difficulties and the stocks been in a downtrend forever. I feel its a good candidate to watch or sell some puts on.
I'm trying to come up with a way to play agriculture since this new phase we're going to be entering is likely to cause huge food shortages.

EURN and NAT- I got in fairly early on the Tanker hype before it was even hype as a way to short oil but I got greedy and lost a lot of my gains. I pared down my position and I'm staying for the dividend.
If you get an oil sell signal, this might be a way to play that still.

Fixed Income/Bonds 10%

Now, I am not a bond expert but unless youre doing some wacky spreads with futures or whatever... I dont see much reason to buy government debt any more. If you are, youre basically betting that they take rates negative. Raoul Pal of Real Vision is pretty firm in his conviction that this will happen. I know better than to argue with him but I dont see risk/reward as being of much value.
HOWEVER, I found two interesting ETFs that seem to bring something to this portfolio
IVOL- This is run by Nancy Davis, and is comprised of TIPS bonds which are nominally inflation protected (doubt its real inflation but whatever) overlayed with some OTC options that are designed to pay off big if the Fed loses control of the long end of the yield curve, which is what might happen during a real inflation situation. Pays out a decent yield monthly
TAIL- This is a simpler portfolio of 10yr treasuries with ladder of puts on the SPX. Pays quarterly.

Equities 58% (shared with options/volatility below)
This is where it gets interesting, obviously most of this is in mining shares but before I get to those I found some interesting stuff that I'm intending to build up as I pare down my miners when the time comes to start doing that.
VIRT- I cant remember where I saw this, but people were talking about this as a volatility play. Its not perfect, but look at the chart compared to SPY. Its a HFT/market making operation, the wackier things get the more pennies they can scalp. A 4% dividend isnt shabby either.
FUND- This is an interesting closed end fund run by Whitney George, one of the principals at Sprott. He took it with him when he joined the company. Ive read his reports and interviews and I really like his approach to value and investing. He's kind of like if Warren Buffett was a gold bug. Theres 120 holdings in there, mostly small caps and very diverse...chicken factories, ball bearings all kinds of boring ass shit that nobody knows exists. Whats crucial is that most of it "needs to exist". Between him, his family and other people at Sprott they control 40% or so of the shares, so they definitely have skin in the game. Generous dividend.
ZIG- This is a "deep value" strategy fund, run by Tobias Carlisle. He has a fairly simple valuation formula called the Acquirer's Multiple that when he backtested it, is supposed to perform very well. He did an interview with Chris Cole on real Vision where he discusses how Value and Deep Value havent done well recently, but over the last 100 years have proven to be very viable strategies. If we feel that theres a new cycle brewing, then this strategy may work again moving forward.

I want to pause and point out something here, Chris Cole, Nassim Taleb and the guys at Mutiny Fund spend a lot of effort explaining that building a portfolio is a lot like putting together a good basketall team. They need to work together, and pick up each others slack
A lot of the ETFs I'm listing here are in many ways portfolios in and of themselves and are *actively managed*. I specifically chose them because they follow a methodology that I respect but I can't do myself because I dont have the skill, temperament or access to.
The next one is a hidden gem and ties into this. I'm not sure how much more upside there is in this one but man was I surprised.
SII- Sprott Inc. I *never* see people listing this stock in their PMs portfolios. A newsletter I'm subscribed to described this stock as the safest way to play junior miners. Their industry presence, intellectual capital and connections means that they get *the best* private placement deals in the best opportunities. I cant compete with a staff like theirs and I'm not going to try. I bought this at 2.50, and I liked the dividend. Since then they did a reverse split to get on the NYSE and like the day after the stock soared.
When it comes to mining ETFS I like GOAU and SILJ the best. None of their major holdings are dead weight companies that are only there because of market cap. I dont want Barrick in my portfolio etc.
SGDJ is a neat version of GDXJ.
Aside from that my individual miners/royalty companies are (no particular order)
MMX
SAND
PAAS
PGM
AUM
AG
MUX
RIO- Rio2 on the tsx, not rio tinto
KTN
KL
Options/Volatility: varies
So this is where we get to the part about options, Volatility and how I do it. I started out in the options space with The Wheel strategy and the Tastytrade approach of selling premium. The spreads and puts I sell, are on shares listed above, in fact some of those I dont hold anymore.
Theres tons of stuff on this in thetagang and options so I wont go into a whole bunch (and you shouldnt be learning the mechanics from me anyway) but theres one thing I want to go over before it gets wild.
If I sell a Cash Secured Put, from a risk management perspective its identical to just buying 100 shares of the underlying security. You are equally "Short Vol" as well, it just that with options
its a little more explicit with the Greeks and everything. But if I use my margin that I was talking about earlier, then I can still collect the premium and the interest doesnt kick in unless Im actually assigned the shares.
But if I sell too many puts on KL or AG, and something happens where the miners get cut down (and lets be real, they all move together) my margin goes down and then I get assigned and kaboom...my account gets blown up
So what I need to do, is balance out the huge Short Vol situation in my portfolio, be net Long Vol and directly hedge my positions. Since the overwhelming majority of my equities are all tied to bullion this is actually a very easy thing to do.

Backspreads
https://youtu.be/pvX5_rkm5x0
https://youtu.be/-jTvWOGVsK8
https://youtu.be/muYjjm934iY

So I set this up so the vast majority of my margin is tied up in these 1-2 or even 1-3 ratio put spreads that *I actually put on for a small credit*, and roll them every once in a while. I run them on SLV, and GDX.
I keep enough room on my margin so I can withstand a 10% drawdown before it sets off the long end of the spreads and then I can ride it out until it turns around and we keep the PM bull market going.
Theres another cool spread I've been using, which is a modified Jade Lizard; if already hold shares, I'll sell a put, sell a covered call, and use some of the premium to buy a longer dated call. Ive been running this on AG mostly.
I have a few more spreads I can show you but Im tired now so it'll have to wait for later.
As I said multiple times, I do intend to trim these miners later but now isnt the time for that IMO. I'm also monitoring this almost full time since I have an injury and have nothing better to do until I heal :p

The LIES of Chris Rabalais and AllSportsMarket

https://i.imgur.com/oucavJo.jpg
A) This is a work in progress. (trying to make this neater and add things that people post) These things have been collected from forums / posts in various places (official forums, reddit groups etc)..and are here to be sifted through and examined to see which are true and which are not. Anyone is welcome to comment both agreement or disagreement.
B) ANY CORRECTIONS please send a message and reference the lie number *** I want to remove false info ASAP*** Or make a post in this thread. If there is anything in this list that shouldn't be here, it will be removed.
C) If you'd like me to add a lie, PLEASE make a post in this thread! Include something like ADD THIS LIE and make a short description
d) ASM /Allsportsmarket / the company means any or all of the proxies and identities of CWH , NSEI, Sportshares.net etc
------------------------------------
A while back, Chris claimed people on reddit were "lying" and that he would respond "point by point" to any "lies" told by redditors. I have begun to compile a list of all of Chris' lies from various sources.

To Chris Rabalais / Allsportsmarket.com : You are more than welcome to respond "point by point". Please include a lie number...and respond and explain how it isn't a lie....

---

Lies of Chris Rabalais

1)This is and was an investment
He has always claimed this was an investment, and still does. He claims you will get a return...yet from the other side of his mouth, he makes sure to mention that this is a "donation." Not one of us would have donated to him without the chance of a return / profit. None of us. This was a donation....to Chris Rabalais...NOT an investment. Still to this day when askign for money he makes suree to put in DONATION but then out of the other side of his mouth he claims you will get a return..or profit..and says you are an investor / insider etc.....This is NOT an investment. This is a DONATION to a very inefficient "charity" claiming you will someday see a "return" on it.
2) Investors into ASM would get a return on their investment -- profit from it
He is still promising people a return...many people show a 'profit' on their account statement but are unable to cash out. Unable to withdraw etc...Chances are, If you have made a "profit" from this on paper, you cannot withdraw it.
3) He was in the process of registering the company shares with the SEC
The SEC has stated point blank he has taken NO STEPS to register the company shares. It is in the complaint.
4) The company shares were ABOUT to be registered, and once they did...they would have even more value and we would miss out unless we bought in
Not only did he say it was in process, he claimed many times they were very close to getting the shares registered and when they did, they would have more value..and investors would be sorry if we didn't jump in on this "rocketship".
5) Chris knows how to get the shares registered with the SEC or has any clue what he is doing in terms of registering the shares
According to the SEC , Chris Rabalais has no idea HOW to even get the shares registered...and that is in their complaint as well. Meanwhile for years Chris was claiming he knew what do do to get the shares registered.
6) "This may be the last chance to jump on this great opportunity"
How many times have we all heard this lie? This or that program is ending....you'll never get another chance at giving money to Chris Rabalais again...but then shockingly...there's another even better offer in a couple days/weeks...
7) If you don't give X amount of money right now , the lights might suddenly go out on ASM..and you'll lose your "investment"
Another lie they tell is that if you don't give money, they will go out of business and you will "lose your investment". Bullcrap , they're not shutting off their free money machine....until someone MAKES them. Oh and you have no investment. Two lies for the price of one.
8) This is not a ponzi scheme
Chris has addressed the ponzi issue only VERY briefly over the years. He recently claimed it isn't a ponzi because the "last guy in can still make money" but that would require MONEY coming in from others...so he gets around the truth by omitting that its not the "guy" its the "last money in " which is nearly the same thing... the people who put their money in last will lose....that is a ponzi. The Judge in the Seth Leon case said so...and I hope another judge says so soon. (See here: https://www.reddit.com/ASMEunfiltered/comments/e61nya/summary_of_the_seth_leon_case_with_update/ )
9) The sports shares have value
Chris claims they have value because they area "claim on future dividends" which is a lie. That is not any definition of real or intrinsic value...and even if it was (it isn't, IMO) the claim on future dividends is a LIE because every penny of that future dividend money relies on new money coming into the market...which is a ponzi...which is valueless
10) You would be able to cash out (sell your holdings, pay off your bonus margin and keep your profits)
He changed the rules when the market started imploding. For years he promised investors they could sell their shares, pay off our margin and take our profits. No one would've bought in if they thought they could never do this. Even after he froze people's ability to cash out...he kept claiming that we would be able to soon...and urged people to buy more margin because all of the profits would be able to be kept.
11) Chris would stop selling margin
Recently, there was a conference call where key members of the team called for an end to the margin offers..NOT because they were a scam (they are) but because it was no longer possible to ignore the implosion of the pilot market and the collapse was being blamed on margin....Chris agreed to end margin and made announcements to this end. In a short time, he realized that promising people money on margin profit was his only revenue...so he HAD to start selling margin again...He knows it is worthless, promised to stop selling it....and lied.
12) Different celebrities, politicians, business people were about to come on board and help us
XFL (paul has contacts with them!!), PHIL COLLINS' WIFE!, Mark Cuban, Jon Bon FUCKING Jovi, Roger Goddell, Snoop Dogg, Brian Austin Green, Trump (speaker at zero club), Labron James, meetings with MLB people, Jack MA / Alibaba.......god knows how many other names this guy drops as potential people who are going to help or who we are 'reaching out' to in order to get them to help us. (help me add to this list)
13) ASM would have a "liquidity event" and be able to make money off of our company shares
There was going to be some liquidity event where we could sell our company shares to other investors...of course it never happened.
14) The new york times ad was going to be about ASM or helping our investment
There was NO MENTION of ASM or AllSportsMarket in the new york times ad and it didn't do a single thing to help ASM become a legitimate company. The only thing it did (from memory) was bash gambling.
15) The trips to Israel, funded by the investors, were something worthy of doing with the money...
Chris bragged and posted pictures of his trips to Israel...but what did they have to do with ASM? How was spending "donations" (investments) for him to go to Israel supposed to help the company? Clearly this was a waste.
16) the Hero club events he goes to (more travel) help ASM in any way whatsoever
I have never seen any evidence that spending who knows how much of the investors' money has been wasted on this, yet chris continues to act as if his membership in the Hero Club is a wise way to spend money...I have seen no evidence that the Hero club has done anything bust waste money.
17) donating to ASM is helping anyone or doing anything other than putting money in HIS pocket...
Quite simply, Chris "donates" 10% of the money given him, if we are to believe that. So He has given (according to him) 150k+ to a hunger charity. They have (according to Chris) matched this 7x, so the 150k donation has turned into a millionish dollars worth of charity. Sounds good right? Well in doing so, Chris has just wasted 90% of the money. Instead of 150k, had we all simply given our 1.5 million to this same charity....and they matched it 7x...we would have turned our money into 10+ million dollars for charity. So essentially, even by Chris' own numbers...we have wasted 9 million dollars of potential charity....by paying Chris's rent..cars etc.. all so that he can take 90% and give 10% to charity....to me, this is wasteful and we would be better donationg directly to the 7x charity the entire 100% rather than wasting the 90%.
18) The ASM 'real market' was a real money market
Chris started the real market to fool us into thinking it was actual money. He later then changed the name to "pilot market" after taking people's REAL money..so he could have the excuse "HEY this is a PILOT market!!!" when you cant withdraw...otherwise why call this a "real" market then suddenly change the name to "pilot"?
19) the ASM pilot market was going to transition with your holdings to a 'regulated' or 'exempt market' and you would be able to keep your profit from the pilot market
So it has been promised to us that the pilot (which was the real market) market will transition to another market..where.....where you'll STILL be able to keep your profits...so..guys..KEEP BUYING BONUS MARGIN lol....
20) If there is a good enough plan, Chris will happily step down in January 2020 and let someone else change the direction of the "company"
Chris claims "give him till December" and if no one is happy he will step aside if that's what everyone wants...IF there is a plan he likes..LOL..we will see...but I am guessing he will not.
21) The pilot market is working
He has claimed the pilot market is working and proves that ASM is functional...yet the market has collapsed and he has frozen everyone's accounts from withdrawing..or paying off margin..etc...but the real/pilot market has been a disaster. Here is him contradicting himself and admitting that the pilot market does NOT work : https://vocaroo.com/bsbcnHWDF8z . This is an admission thatthe pilot market as it is now is busted and will never work without being completely re-designed (revenue sharing etc). The worst part of this is he KNOWS the pilot market is not working yet he is still selling margin to buy stocks on this market.....that to me is criminal. How can he do this?
22) The learning market is working and proves that the math and numbers are correct and functional
Claims have been made the learning market is working..LOL...anyone who has touched the learning market knows it is completely dysfunctional...and not any kind of advertisement or positive experience...
23) Bonus margin has some sort of value other than to put money in his pocket
He claims bonus margin has value. It doesn't. Its worthless. If he tries to deny this..ask him why he is selling it if it has no value? Ask him how he plans on turning something with 0 value into something with value. This is the core of his scam right now..selling WORTHLESS bonus margin with no value for real money...which he donates 10% of and the rest goes to expenses...and his salary & rent etc...
24) Chris "had alper" double check the math in 2009 , and the market math is fine..
Oh god...so in one of the videos, Chris claims he had Alper check the math in 2009 and alper told him the numbers work. This is such utter horseshit, and mainly designed to deflect responsibility for the failure of the market..so he can blame it on Alper. Chris knows the math doesn't work. Alper knows the math doesn't work..and Alper & Chris know that margin is worthless...and they know the market is a failure...they have to know this...
25) special clubs like "ASM Black", "Insider programs", "Advisory Councils" etc etc are anything other than him trying to get even more money out of your pocket
All of these programs are just designed to get you to give them more money..there is no real benefit to being a member in them. The insider program just basically stopped people from being able to withdraw sooner....who knows what ASM black was..and this advisory council...what was that? Give Chris 100$ to listen to more youtube rants? Ok...whatever new club or council they will come up with next is a bunch of crap designed to make you feel special as you give them your hard earned money.
26) The NDA he sent via email before spamming you with more ads is legally binding
We all know the NDA he sent via e-mail was worthless..it was hilarious.....and unenforceable....
27) They would provide investors with financial documents / audit / detailed information at the end of October 2019
Yeah so will we ever get to see the "audit" ? Doubt it...they are not transparent with any pertinent info. Who is paid what? Who holds what shares? What shares have been granted to who? What money was paid by NSEI to who , and for what? "Seal of transparency" my ass.
28) The SEC filing suit against him could be viewed as a positive in some ways
I forget how he worded it but he basically claimed the SEC suit was some sort of opportunity for something positive for him. The one positive thing I can think of is it stopped him from getting more money from suckers...
29) He didn't "really" lose the case against Seth Leon
He made all kinds of excuses and claims the only reason he lost against Seth Leon is because Seth Leon sent the papers to an old address....LOL (see here: https://www.reddit.com/ASMEunfiltered/comments/e61nya/summary_of_the_seth_leon_case_with_update/ ) Make NO mistake..Chris LOST the case. The court found "AMPLE EVIDENCE" of fraud by Chris Rabalais.
30) It was Trump's fault (Govt shutdown) that he didn't get paperwork done with the SEC
LOL...I hope this is what he tells the Judge
31) It was Jason's fault that "a letter" wasn't sent to the SEC regarding the NRHL
Blame it on a guy who doesn't work for the company any more...
32) It is alper's fault the math/numbers don't work because Chris asked alper to "check the numbers" in 2009
Blame this on Alper.....when he has known for YEARS the numbers do not work
33) there were "saboteurs" who tried to wreck the "deal" with NRHL, who came from reddit..*but luckily they saved the deal!
Remember the saboteurs? remember how they "saved" the deal with the NRHL? Remember how the NRHL was going to be huge for ASM? Yeah none of these things were true....MAYBE a guy (gregson?) tried to contact the NRHL to find out if they were even real.. but NO ONE thought the NRHL was going to be a good thing..and NO ONE wanted to transition their money to a market led by roller derby..because it was and is a stupid idea.
34) There were lawyers (zero club? friends?) who were going to help with the SEC defense for free
Chris had an army of lawyers, some of the best in the country and who had never lost...but yet he had to beg the court for a free lawyer because he can't get a lawyer to represent him...LOL
35) "secured by blockchain" - Chris claims this tech is in use now but what is it exactly other than bullshit?
On one of his latest videos he claims the blockchain technology is protecting the ASM market right now...BS. There is no technology that I have seen. There hasn't been anything said about what this even is or does. Ace hasn't even been heard from since around August has he? They can't even get an android app...the blockchain bullshit is just more jargon and buzzwords...trying to get you to give them money...there is nothing behind this "secured by blockchain" trademark...other than words...otherwise why not explain exactly what it is, and how it works ..etc...
36) Chris is going to counter sue the SEC and prove that he is a legitimate business
LOL.. with his free lawyer?
37) All cryptocurrencies are a SCAM
Notice he screams and cries FRAUD at many things, but he is a fraud himself. Typical tactic...accuse others of what you are doing. Also, there is some real value in some cryptos, like bitcoin...unlike a sports share on ASM. Its called 'proof of work' ...that has real value that can even be measured..by electricity use, processing power etc...I am not arguing it has a lot of value, or even that it is as valuable as the price....but it is above zero, unlike a share in a sports team on ASM. I'm also not an expert nor to I condone investing in crypto...
38) Gambling is more of a problem than ASM / NSEI
Again, he screams and cries about how dirty Gambling is...but at least legal gambling is regulated, and you have a chance to win. Unlike ASM...
39) They were working on an Android app , and needed donations for it
One of the reasons I donated early on was because of seeing the IOS app, and the promises of making an android app.In fairness this might not have been a lie....but if theyre not going to make an android app , then say so.
41) They lied by omission and did not tell investors about the SEC suit until August 2019
So someone else came and announced the SEC lawsuit on the reddit forum in August 2019. There is some strong evidence that Chris knew about this in April 2019 or even earlier like maybe Oct 2018...and if he knew about it before it was announced , then he witheld this information from all of us..
42) The NFL / MLS "Deals"
We very nearly had a deal with the NFL and MLS...or have / had a chance to make deals with them...its all bullshit. The guy cant even make a deal with roller derby leagues...and we are expected to believe he is making deals with major leagues?
43) Wefunder / Crowd Funding
We started the process to sell shares through we-funder....but they turned us down. Guess what Chris "forgot" to tell us all? THE REASON they turned us down...because ASM / CWH doesn't pass the "smell test"? What was the reason? It seems like maybe the reason was the UNREGISTERED SECURITIES? I mean there had to be a reason..what was it?
44) Share Buyback
They were going to buy back company shares from investors....and at times stated the shares were so valuable they would gladly buy them back for X amount because they were sure to go up in price...but when push comes to shove they NEVER will buy this worthless junk back......even for 1 penny. A lot of the 'tyes men' have stated they would also buy shares back from unhappy investors but of course they never do this in reality.
45) Telling the truth, even if it is harmful to Chris / ASM is some type of Slander or Libel
Chris would like you to think that calling him out on fraud and lies is some type of "libel" or "slander" but as anyone knows...telling the truth is not slander or libel. He is trying to scare people from telling the truth. Blowing the whistle on his fraud is NOT slander or libel. Period. He is the CEO of a company that he sold shares of stock in, fraudulently. He must and will be held accountable.
46) The market cap number is a legitimate indicator of the validity of ASM
Chris love to throw around market capitalization numbers (4 Billion LOL) as if they mean anything at all or indicate that this market is healthy. They include the learning market (fake money) and the margin (also fake money). If you subtract the learning market, the bonus margin, and the money "used" by chris for data, rent, cars etc...you have pretty much zero market cap in reality.
47) ASM has a way of checking if an investor is accredited: See here: https://www.reddit.com/ASMEunfiltered/comments/eacs69/new_lies_regarding_searching_for_for_accredited/ . In my understanding , one of the ways (in some cases) un-registered securities can be sold is if it is to an "accredited" investor. The SEC has said Chris has no means of checking this. I would personally believe the SEC at this point....and I will count this as a lie until it is proven that Chris / ASM actually does have a way of legitimately checking accreditation.
48) The reason Chris withheld the fact the SEC was investigating him and suing him was because the SEC told him he couldnt tell us.
BULLSHIT. In the audio Chris makes absurd claims that he couldnt tell "investors" of his problems with the SEC because they told him not to talk about it. Yet meanwhile he kept taking money from investors as if everything was fine..KNOWING that trouble was brewing and KNOWING that the shit was going to hit the fan. Show me a letter by the SEC that says he can't warn his investors of an impending action by them SHOW IT TO US. If you show this to us, I'll remove this lie. It doesnt make any sense because the SEC exists to protect us from predators like Chris , so why would they tell him he cannot warn us of problems with the SEC????? MAKES ZERO SENSE. Does not pass the smell test. This is a lie by omission..taking our money , pretending things are fine....but KNOWING problems are coming. The bottom line: Chris didnt say SHIT about this anywhere that I know of until AFTER it was posted publicly that the lawsuit was filed...I heard about this online before it was ever mentioned by chris in any conference call or statement by him.
49) Not sure if this is technically a "lie" or not but the guy / ASM has at least 10 twitter accounts...here are a few of them: 1) https://twitter.com/AllSportsMarket 2) https://twitter.com/rabalais_cva 3) https://twitter.com/asmclients 4) https://twitter.com/thesportsvote 5) https://twitter.com/SportsFolios 6) https://twitter.com/MySportsWiki 7) https://twitter.com/chrisrabalais 8) https://twitter.com/NuSportsEconomy 9) https://twitter.com/ASMFreeApp 10) https://twitter.com/ASM_Advisor (not 100% on this one but it looks fake) ..etc..... It looks as if this one: https://twitter.com/ASMFreeApp has a bunch of bots or paid 'farm' followers. So, while not a 'lie' exactly...very odd and shady behavior.
50) In the "Investors Q& A" found here: https://tinyurl.com/spbznmf They failed to disclose the Seth Leon case, the failed attempt at bankruptcy discharge of the fraud debt, and failed to disclose the debt owed to Seth Leon. So they lied in the sections about Legal Problems and they Lied in the sections about Debt. This is in a Q&A involving potential ionvestors so they are lying to potential investors about the risks.

51) Chris will "fact check" and respond to every accusation made against him and prove that these things are lies told by "known liars"
https://i.imgur.com/HaGfekN.jpg
So a couple of weeks ago, Chris said he would fact check all of the "lies" told about him...so I thought I would do him a big favor and make a huge list. His claim was that everyone saying all of these things are "known liars" and none of these things is true. He says they are all bogus "claims" made by "liars." He said he would refute these"claims." Well guess what asshole? Every songle person reading this is probably a victim of yours, and they KNOW all of these things aren't "claims" ... they are facts. I have done my best here to stick to things that are universal..that we have all witnessed as investors.
Now (shockingly) chris refuses to "fact check" any of these "lies." He says he will respond only if you sign your name and send him a private e-mail or make a post on his censored and controlled website where he has to approve any post before it is seen by the public... So I will add this as yet another lie. He will never refute SHIT. He is a thief and a liar. and a con man....and CAN"T refute anything said above. Period. More than likely if anyone posted this list on his forums, he would NEVER allow it to stand....so how is anyone supposed to get this list "fact checked"? The only Known liar here..well..I think we all know who that is...
You would think he might want to address these things publicly instead of making people ask via e-mail and leaving a cloud of suspicion for potential investors to see..and maybe he would rather answer one time, rather than a bunch of separate e-mails......but I guess when there are literally no answers to any of these things, the only solution is to try and hide it more...

Garena literally makes League unplayable

Prior to 2017, Garena has been using Garena+ as a sort of launcher hub for all their games (LoL, HoN, etc.), so you have to log-in to garena then look for your game click it and launch/update it from there. But in 2017 they decide to shift to a new launcher called Garena2.0. They still supported the old Garena+ launcher until around late 2017, but after that they made updating the game impossible unless you were using Garena2.0. So you uninstall g+ and go to 2.0
Garena2.0 has been filled with bugs since the beginning, and Garena isn't even trying to fix them. Whenever you open the 2.0 launcher, it will immediately take up all bandwidth downloading something (I have no idea what it is), even when your client and games are all updated. When you try to update your game, garena will give you an arbitrary progress bar, at 10% it will say "optimizing resources", at this point bandwidth throttles, and it stays at optimizing resources for about 30 minutes. Here's the fun part about this, let's say your dl speed is 3mb/s. Only 1.5mb/s is going to downloading the patch, the other 1.5mb/s is garena downloading something (something I don't know again).
Okay, so you get past the first 30 minutes of optimizing resources, only half of your speed goes to downloading the patch, and the other half to god knows where. It will download pretty normally until 25%, where they'll tell you garena2.0 was unable to fetch the patch, so it'll ask you to either cancel patching and dont play the game, or download the unzipped patch. So normally, patches are like 600mb or so, but this unzipped patch is about a few gigs in my experience. that may not be much for most of you, but internet is pretty shitty in asia compared to the west. Plus the fact that only half my bandwidth goes to downloading? I can leave it downloading at 2 in the morning, and I can come back after my classes at 5 in the afternoon and it's still not done.
So normally, a patch can take a day to download properly.
The best part is Garena has been deleting forum posts regarding these issues, because fuck you.
And before, someone brings it up, if you think my g2.0 is/has a virus, probably. But I got my launcher from their site. And I've been experiencing this since around nov 2017, and I did a clean wipe of my computer and redownloaded g2.0 from their site in january 2018. So fuck me sideways amirite?
EDIT 1: so I just woke up to this, it kinda blew up, I'll make another edit in a few minutes when I properly wake up. I'll try to answer (with my experience) some concerns raised in the thread.
EDIT2: wall of text
What is this kernel mode driver people are talking about???
At around March-April of 2017, some guys found that garena was placing a kernel mode driver in computers that install it (Garena). " this Kernel mode driver has highest level of access to your computer," understates the possibility of this. With this KMD, Garena could potentially, access your computer from anywhere, log all your keystrokes, force a shutdown, etcetc. It's essentially a virus just waiting for Garena's orders. But aren't all viruses like that? Eh probably. Why didn't I include this in my post?
I didn't experience this in my G+ installation back then, so I just didn't include it. As for now however, I have no idea, I have not checked. KMD link here
Is Garena a crypto miner?
Probably not, when I launch G2.0, my Cpu and GPU utilization rises by 8% and 2% respectively. Internet bandwidth is maximized though. Looking at the nominal increases I think we can all agree that having a million computers running at less than 10% capacity for mining is inefficient and the returns would be meaningless for a company like Garena. What I mean is, financially the gain that garena gets from selling the bitcoin they get from 10% utilization systems would be pretty meaningless in terms of their entire financials.
But hey, if you have a KMD, you can just make it so that cpu and gpu measures will return 5% utilization right?
What is GarenaPlatform and what don't you just turn it off.
The beautiful thing about G2.0, is it split the old systems of G+, which was only one process, into like 4 or so. One of these is Garenaplatform, which is essentially the launcher itself. I use essentially here, as it isn't really the launcher, but its a prerequisite for the process of the launcher, without it the launcher wouldn't even startup. And when you startup Gplatform, you have to give it access to make changes in your harddrive, so yeah, fuck you.
You can't turn it off, because don't play the fucking game.
Why not change regions?
I live in Southeast Asia, the closest countries with non-Garena owned servers are OCE, JP, KR (I think). I'm lucky to know how to read write and speak japanese so I can play in JP right? Yeah sure, if I'm okay with play on ~500 ping stable. Moving from 20-500 is literally unplayable. I would imagine OCE is around the same. KR is kinda hard to check since you need a Korean phone number to sign up, so I have no idea how to check my ping there.
Why is Garena there?/Is garena really the only distributor for lol there?/why is rito not doing anything?
Many south east asian governments have made it really hard for foreigners to open up businesses here. They have things such as a certain percentage of share holdings have to be owned by a citizen of that country, or higher tax percentages for foreign owned companies, and many other legal shits. It just doesn't make financial sense for Riot to be the distributors in SEA, they'll make money sure. But the amount of money you make in relation to the stress (of governments and the ecosystem of the countries) and the work you have to put in, probably isn't worth it according to Riot's estimates. Garena has established a monopoly on game distribution in SEA (if we dont take into account Steam, but Steam is like, don't even bother). There is literally no other company that can distribute the game. Riot isn't doing anything, because Tencent owns rito and garena. So it isnt that garena is under rito because theyre publishing the game they made, but they're more like sister companies now. For riot to do something, they have to look up to tencent, and tencent to look down to garena. Not happening.
Garena didn't change loot rate on (the last patch)
yeah, fuck you I guess. I've gotten 60+ 400BE shards (or whatever the lowest tier is) since the new system and got like 5 of the highest.
Garena doesn't even have good infrastructure for its events
Yeah, every year they try to make this big event that's supposed to be a year end tournament thing for every region. Every fucking year, the venue they get is too small for the amount of people that come in/tickets they sell. Literally, please fire whoever is running your events programs and planning. Now, I don't watch their streams (like the local LCS, or whatever garena calls it), so I can't talk about that.
On nepotism and garena hiring "morons"
Yeah, you basically have infinite power in garena if you know a GM (they're like mods). GMs will ban whoever the fuck tries to destroy this image of garena being an all beautiful, can-do-no-wrong company. Also if you give them a name, they'll ban that name on the spot. Here's the fun part, they ban whomever their friends say, but not actually toxic people. OF course there's an overlap between the two somewhere, but that fact that GMs ban on account that family/friends telling them is, oh boi, fun. Then again, what do you expect? Garena only pays minimum wage to its workers, about a small increase for (local) top management (idk about actual TOP management). Even when they make millions a month. Can't really expect the employees to work harder than now.
Servers randomly die for long intervals.
Yeah, it happens. Not as often as back then, but it still happens. It happened last month, servers died for like an entire day, because of a TF bug or some shit. Unlike Riot, garena doesn't give like compensation for downtimes. I really don't care. But I guess it looks bad when the other company does and you dont.
Garena has a built in live chat
I actually have no qualms about the live chat. I used it waaaaaaay back then, from like 2013-2015. I had no issues then. Idk about now, since they moved to g2.0, I've been using other things.
But yeah, there is a button for the support team. It's just a button, no one is there ever.
Just use manual patch you fucking retard.
I did use manual patch for the most recent patch. I applied the patch properly, and yes, I did apply it properly I followed the instructions on their site, and the shit I saw on my monitor was the same as in their site. I open up g2.0 after the manual patch, yup, still need to update haha what a jokester gotem
Garena doesn't allow API.
Yeah, they have this mobile app that essentially works like opgg. I say essentially, since it doens't really work. I don't use it, so Idk.
I thought we were talking about the champion Garen
We'll have a seperate post for that. But I can't really check rn, SINCE LEAGUE IS UNPLAYABLE
Levi went to NA to escape G2.0
honestly, this is probably true. Good for him.
Inting
yeah garena doesnt do shit about what is otherwise punishable behavior. But you soil the name of garena you will be banned on sight, like pre-freedom Tyler1
What is garena?
just imagine steam, but shitty. I mean, really shitty.
Why dont we reverse engineer garena and update/make it opensource so we can patch/play without it.
You need to be logged in to garena to log in to the lol servers. So you only have one login id for garena and the game itself. The very game launcher itself is modified so that you don't type your id/pass when the client opens. The lol client connects to your g2.0 and uses the same credentials for your lol login. So without garena, you're not connecting to the lol servers
Is garena mordekaiser?
they should honestly just make a garena mordekaiser skin
I fail to understand why riot keeps allowing garena to ruin their reputation.
50 percent of something is bettern than a hundred percent of nothing. $$$$. refer to the answer above why garena is the only disributor in SEA and why rito does nothing Why does league need to be launched by Garena anyways? Did Riot sell the rights to Garena or something? Why would they even do that? Riot, before they were bought out by tencent, licensed the game to garena for publishing in the SEA region. refer to the answer above why garena is the only disributor in SEA and why rito does nothing.
is Garena a real server, that's my question
its more like a concentration camp
Does garena block you from playing in other regions? are you isp blocked?
Actually no, I can play in NA, EU, JP, OCE, KR (technically) to name a few. IF I can stomach moving from 20 ping to ~500+, sure.
What if ur computer is just shit specs hurhur potato
I have an i5 8400, and a 1070. Which is pretty potato by today's standards. Maybe I should upgrade. yeah.
Have you tried reinstalling?
yes, same problems. I did a clean wipe of my computer to redl everything early january 2018. same problems persisted
End of wall of text
EDIT 3
Another redditor messaged me about what Garena was downloading in the background on startup. Apparently every time the client needs an update, it redownloads all of the files it needs to function. Instead of only downloading the changes that the update brings, it redownloads even the things that were unchanged. So if you look into your garena folder there are a bunch of "2.0.xxxx.xxxx" folders with the same files. These folders are the different version of g2.0 that you've downloaded.
So let's say I'm on G2.0 build 1.0.0, everything is working fine, very good, the contents of this build are packets A, B, C and D. However garena rolls out G2.0 build 1.0.1, because they needed to add an image asset. A reasonable person would tell you, well, just download the image asset then apply it to the install folder. No, Garena, makes you redownload packet A,B,C and D, and then the image asset. So you're left with 2 copies of packet ABC and D.
It feels like garena is trying to beat riots meme of being an indie company. Holy shit. A five year old that knows how to code can make something better.

Vechain 95 % of remaining non circulating supply lock up?

Suggestions - if anyone has other ideas lets discuss here. The community is an important aspect of Vechain, and considering so many people invested in Xnodes and higher and have watched their value all but disappear over the past year and a half i would think a transparent company like Vechain would be interested in hearing some suggestions from the community. The buy back is a small step in the right direction, but more could quite easily be done to improve things.
For example lock up 95% of the remaining non circulating supply. Ripple chose to lock up their remaining supply, but every 30 days 1 billion is allowed to be sold which in reality does virtually nothing to ease investor concern of them dumping their supply on the market driving price down. 1 billion coins flooding the market is more than enough to cause suppression. There is a petition going around right now to get Ripple to cut this in half and Ripple just announced theyre substantially reducing xrp sales to more accurately represent actual trade volume. Apparently Coinmarketcap shows hugely inflated false trade volumes and Ripple is now using Cryptocompare to have a clear understanding of actual volume being traded. Read here - https://www.ripple.com/insights/q2-2019-xrp-markets-report/
If Vechain were to lock up 95+% of their tokens, and lock up 95% of their staffs tokens for another year, while they continue with the buy back theyve started it would solve the immense downward pressure and the market price of VET would begin to appreciate and more accurately represent all the company is accomplishing. The Walmart announcement moved the price up 30% in approx 1-2 hours and you could see volume increased dramatically for that very short period but within a few hours the entire 30% gain was back to ZERO! I assume someone(s) were just selling into the 30% until it was all wiped out because it happened fast. Have a look at all other cryptos and youll see that when big announcements come they increase in value substantially and typically hold 50+% of that gain going forward. Link is a good example but there are many others too.
for approx 24 hours leading up to the Walmart announcement LATOKEN exchange was showing about 10-20 times the volume it usually has for VET so whoever it was trading on LATOKEN more than likely knew the announcement was coming. No proof ofcourse, but very odd to see this exchange suddenly blow away Binance and Oceanex 10 fold in terms of trade volume.
With the minimal volume (actual exchange volume) we see with VET daily, even just devs selling / trading 50-250 million on the open market could suppress price inadvertently.
Taking measures like these will raise Vechains standing amoung the naysayers and VET will rise into top 10 in the market in a fairly short period of time rather than continue to fall as it has for the past 1.5 years straight.
When VET was VEN before the 100x supply increase i questioned how the market would react to having a coin with only 30ish million in trade volume daily multiplying its supply x100 and i suggested that without a number of the top exchanges trading VET, there wont be enough volume to prevent a major drop in price and that is what happened. All other cryptos on the market that have 10 billion+ circulating supply and have a more accurate token price have maintained 5x+ the trade volume Vet has, and they are listed on most of the biggest exchanges - where Vet isnt. So exchange listings are also very important not only for the trade volume but the sense of market recognition they provide any crypto that is listed. Maybe a portion of the 25 million $ allotted for the buy back could be used on exchange listings instead?
Anyone else have some ideas?
EDIT - found this on the cryptocurrency subreddit by u/bLbGoldeN - and it provides some good insight on why projects like Vechain might not be more valuable...YET
It has been a decade since this market's inception and 3 years since I've started monitoring it closely and analyzing it. Whether you're new to crypto or a veteran that has been through multiple bubbles, chances are you don't really know what's going on. Despite surviving the worst bear market so far, we're hovering at a $300B total market cap. So how come crypto journalism is so bad it sticks out even when compared to modern journalism? The answer is that the lack of available foresight and unbiased analyses is very much on purpose.
Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV and other clones (and almost everything else, but clones aren't as nebulous) really give you a great window on the insanity of this market. Everyone who tries to attach any kind of metrics to these projects or make realistic predictions regarding adoption and 'fair value' is prompted with a question: "Who in their right mind could think this is worth 5+ billions?" Since it's essentially impossible to reconcile market valuation and fundamentals, they assume that there's something they're not getting, that there's crucial information they lack, so they resume business as usual. There has to be a reason, right? The truth is that crypto as a whole is a rare and insanely profitable cocktail. The market is split almost perfectly in two (by perfectly, I don't mean a 50/50 split, I mean that these two sides represent almost 100% of the market):
Manipulators, who have the means to perform due diligence and are fully aware that the vast, vast majority of projects will absolutely never go anywhere, yet that a select few might explode. Gamblers, who do not understand the underlying technology (and even less the economic environment surrounding said technology) but are ready to shell out millions collectively to make a quick profit. The amount of people who perform thorough, unbiased research and invest carefully is staggeringly low, simply because there are very few individuals with the resources required to sift through the bullshit and without any intention to exploit the market. Coupled with extremely low real liquidity (arbitrage and market makers shouldn't really be considered), this results in a nonsensical market of booms & busts that benefits manipulators every time. However, none of this would be possible if it weren't for a key ingredient: Bitcoin. As long as Bitcoin and any of its clones gravitate towards the top, you can be sure that the market conditions haven't changed, because they act as indicators. Our top meme is a perfect testament to that: "HODL" is based on the bizarre and baseless assumption that the past will repeat ad vitam, and it does a great job keeping liquidity low. In short, it's a perfect gauge of the community's overall idiocy.
Mainstream media only exacerbates the issue. It's much less costly (and thus, more profitable) for it to invite supporters or critics of Bitcoin to push a certain agenda than it is to pay competent journalists or experts to provide a detailed explanation of smart contracts and the rise of a programmable economy, for example. Yet I can tell you that in most professional circles, nobody talks about Bitcoin. Manufacturers don't care about receiving payments in Bitcoin, they care about data integrity and security. Energy consortia aren't interested in having households pay their bills with Litecoin, they care about autonomous, self-balancing, self-monitoring grids that optimize electricity distribution and pricing.
There are several projects that have a much better chance to overcome the hurdles of adoption, yet it's unlikely you'll find them in the top 10 positions, because they're neither sexy nor simple. Why would manipulators waste time, money and effort inflating those projects' value, when they know full well that they'll appreciate on their own in due time? It's much easier to extract as much money as possible from morons who are willing to 'invest' in worthless junk and let the rest depreciate dramatically to secure a lower entry point. Even as the technology progresses and real innovations are made public, tribalism and hit pieces take care of the rest.
TL;DR: Current prices are not indicative of future success. If you've performed the research and come to the conclusion that an asset is undervalued, believe in yourself. This market is not your friend, it exists only to take your money.

Be careful using Coinstar Vouchers, I waited a month, now they wont honor it, month goes by and dozen emails, they give me . Coinstar ruined their reputation all over $10 sad. And I wanted to recommend that system for BTC for noobs

title says it all, i hated having to even make this post, the coinstar people can look up my case if they want but I think ive been dragged through the halls of nonesense long enuf to be asked to do anything else, just reporting what i consider unintentional fraud, especialy when i provide everything a copy of voucher, my id, over and over and you cant even giveme the $10 worth of BTC I bought for liek $2, i bought at 4K BTC and i just want my lil bit of bitcoin...a nd they cant even give it to me? lol i am za****@********you can check my case if youw ork for coinstar and see this

really sucks i wanted to recommend those machines too.

Im sure they may work fine but I am not gonan sit back and be screwed over $10 worth of BTC and not report it

EDIT: after i said I would report the incident to BBB they finally emailed me back with a correction and now, i finally got my BTC, apparently some bug, whatever, i think teh system is different now, so maybe this wont happen again.

i am going to actually try using the machine again, even through I have cashapp now, its still cool way to buy BTC with cash if you need to immediately. Its probably better to just use cashapp card to buy BTC at this point or one of the many other easier ways to buy BTC but coinstar machines are better than nothing lol even if they dont sell BTC but vouchers, and you have to use a KYC website that wants ALL your info for a few dollars lol thats just the law, and theyre too afraid to just sell BTC ins mall amounts without KYC lol

theres no crime i could commit with $6 in btc hehe i wish KYC laws were common sense and these old peopel in government realized that trhe internet is not soem fuckinjg fad and we need crypto to LIVE, some africans i know use it to feed themselves they coudl very well DIE without crypto, just like many economies that are based on technology, its justa way for peopel to transfer money and its redoiculosuy weneed an ID for even thousand sof dollars lol. chase jpmorgana nd wells fargo get to laudner BILLIONS but we have to show our ID for fucking 3 dollars lol

anyway glad coinstars coinme peopel finally resolvedthsi when i threatened to call the police and BBB :D It worked!

What happened with MATTIC should not surprise anyone — here’s why:

‘Panic?’ So theyre chalking it up to FUD as their explanation? Smh. For any of you whose been involved in the crypto game b4 Q417, you already know what I’m about to say. For all the rest: this was a 4PD if I ever saw one.
4PD (disambiguation) is one of many slang acronyms / memes that really apexed in usage circa 2016 & pretty much dissipated after cryptowinter. It stands for 4chan Pump & Dump — back when the first DEXes were launching & the only ‘stablecoin’ was USDT (which remained the only stablecoin until after BTC ATH which brought widespread, global attention to regulators) & the notion was anyone who had 10+ BTC (which wasnt inconceivable back when I started trading at $200 per coin) would scour 4chan and dark web message boards with forum posts titled “4PD LFXM” where X = 1 user or 10 BTC .
These simplistic yet complicated, paradoxical form of easily spotted & instantly recognizable code would let pump & dumpers (whales only) seek out each other so if I post 4PD LF2M then without needing to read the thread or post (of which was usually vague or left empty) I would know right off the bat that there’s a group of 3 whales who all are willing to commit 10 BTC each, thus 30 BTC total seeking 2 more ppl or 20 more BTC.
This was so rampant in 2016 (the golden year of crypto for early adopters) that anyone who had any experience trading knew right away to stay the fuck away from any coin/token with a market cap under 50 million — I must confess I am guilty of being apart of one of these groups.
We pumped golem, bcc (bitconnect) Bitcoin gold and a slew of other shitcoins that don’t even exist anymore. We would all buyin & made the whole community FOMO then dump at the top.
The only problem was finding a group you can trust ; which fortunately for SWIM worked out great as they used software to create an algorithmic system of escrow to make sure we had proof of stake and no need to trust each other.
Anyone’s curious how it worked out in terms of ROI; basically we’d(they’d) dump 10 BTC each & 50 BTC into a shitcoin and split the return at the top of the wick which usually was anywhere from 25%-10,000% profit (yes, I know...)
Technically they/we should all be in jail for what SWIM did. If it makes you feel any better, SWIM lost 80% of everything in cryptowinter and SWIM donated tens of thousands of $$ to irc unicef & st Jude.
Now? SWIM has nowhere near the net worth he had back then but is comfortable enough for me to focus on my research & startup while not needing to work for food/bills.

Long live decentralized bitcoin(!) A reading list

Newbs might not know this, but bitcoin recently came out of an intense internal drama. Between July 2015 and August 2017 bitcoin was attacked by external forces who were hoping to destroy the very properties that made bitcoin valuable in the first place. This culminated in the creation of segwit and the UASF (user activated soft fork) movement. The UASF was successful, segwit was added to bitcoin and with that the anti-decentralization side left bitcoin altogether and created their own altcoin called bcash. Bitcoin's price was $2500, soon after segwit was activated the price doubled to $5000 and continued rising until a top of $20000 before correcting to where we are today.
During this drama, I took time away from writing open source code to help educate and argue on reddit, twitter and other social media. I came up with a reading list for quickly copypasting things. It may be interesting today for newbs or anyone who wants a history lesson on what exactly happened during those two years when bitcoin's very existence as a decentralized low-trust currency was questioned. Now the fight has essentially been won, I try not to comment on reddit that much anymore. There's nothing left to do except wait for Lightning and similar tech to become mature (or better yet, help code it and test it)
In this thread you can learn about block sizes, latency, decentralization, segwit, ASICBOOST, lightning network and all the other issues that were debated endlessly for over two years. So when someone tries to get you to invest in bcash, remind them of the time they supported Bitcoin Unlimited.

Suggestions for some economy, loot, task changes

I think almost everything should be lootable with some exceptions. Guns should spawn in all type of weapons crates everytime but in various stages of durability, using gun oil (M4's need this) or motor oil (for the AK's) and the multi tool and weapon repair kits you could repair the weapons and their parts in your
stash or hideout (COMING SOON). Every crate should have more items spawn in it, so you pick what you need with items that make sense for that specific crates/bags/cabinets type of items. File cabinets should spawn with Intel files on certain maps where it makes sense to the lore. Rare Lootable items like Thumb Drive
and Gas Analyzers should be valued barter items and should give you higher tier barter trades or trader value like the skyrim system of barter, Selling items to traders should not get you money at all and should only be found in raid or given for daily quests or earned on the flea market by selling your items,
it makes no real sense to the lore of the what happened in tarkov to how much money is floating around in player stashes and in the economy, but small amounts of roubles, euros, dollars could get you high value items that cost a lot of money. It would make looting safes, bags, cabinets, jackets, scavs bags and
pockets, as well as daily quests to make the late game more intriguing to get rare attachments to buy from end game traders and levels instead of only able to be found in a crate in the raid. These changes combined with the recent increase of money found in safes, wouldn't make it be a huge grind and would give
money much more value to the flea market for the player based ecomony and not flood the economy with nothing of real value in game because everythig is easily achiveable. I like the point klean made during his podcast with the point of the triangle of value to an item it gives an emotional attchment to the in game
items because it has more value in game. Fence should be used to sell items for barter or small amounts of money with him for purchases of basic high consumable items like basic meds and ammo, low tier gear, with this rework he should also be given a list of daily quests for in game items to give him more for
modest sums of in game money for end game items to buy. like $300 or 3000 roubles or 300 euros as examples. This would give more value to doing quests later game and mid game and give more value to end game gear and money itself as end game gear would be expense and only made purchasable at end game traders and
levels for in game monies. Each trader at end game levelling should have a few high end gear options to be bought for big amounts roubles or rare item trades. this would make looting much more rewarding and the risk of mid to late raid with a full bag and feeling of loss in a death much more devastating and the
highs the game gives when you have great PvP and extract much higher. it would keep players ingaged in the reasons for being in raid besides just the PvP experience. Each successful raid could be accedited to ammo found in a few raids before or a gun you built from scratch from parts you found in weapons crates and
boxes, or the rare stash of great ammo you found in a random shipping crate on customs or tucked away in the tunnels in factory, or hidden in the janitors closets on interchage or Shoreline. Something has been lost lately to the feeling that tarkov gave me the first time I played it, Once I got past the fear of
going broke and gear fear as some call it, I began to realise nothing is unattainable in game, you just need some roubles and where can you find them? Everywhere. Everywhere an item spawns youre looking at roubles not an item worth anything at all because roubles are the cheapest options for trading currently.

I've already given one example on a rework to a trader that makes sense to the lore and economy. Now for another trader, Mechanic. Mechanic could be one of the more interesting traders to rework for the economy because of his love for guns and theyre respective mods. he would value things like tools and tool kits,
gun oils and Motor oil for reapiring guns he would also value weapon attachments and rare weapons and their respective parts. He would also repair guns which you could pay for buy selling items to him directly. He would do trades for end game items with things like bitcoins and rare electronics like the 1GPhone,
or Graphics cards and computer parts in bulk. this makes sense to the trader because of his current questline and matches with the lore around him, you could earn euros from him for end game item purchases at end game trader level, he would also have a daily quest or quests that make you loot for specific gun parts
in raids this would lessen the grind for ingame currency and slow down the rate at which its obtained. also giving items more value to the player and the economy.

These simple changes to each trader in a similar manner based upon the lore of the trader and what they would be interested in, would drastically change the flea market and economy, make items themselves have more value to the player and economy. Keep players inagaged in raids by hitting up all the loot spots for a
chance for a rare barter item or gun part or whole gun in pristine condition. You would have a much more balanced and realistic player based economy and not an inflated mess like it is in its current state, by giving much more realistic pricing and lower availablity of money with less of it available in a short
amount of time. these changes woud also push players to the flea market to make money in game for late end game gear purchases from items they looted in game, I like the point that was made in the tarkov podcast from klean that quest related items should be like the golden pocket watch or the box of graphics cards
type item and only be found in raid when the quest is available and accepted. This also slows down the economy some and alllows for more realistic price fluctuation based prices in the flea market based upon supply and demand not just where the player base is with PMC level in the questlines.

Daily quests should be given to the player from all traders, 1-4 per day, per trader, randomly generated amount per day, and based upon trader preferences for items found in raid. like Prapor wants AKs and Russian Attachments, ammo and gear. Peacekeeper wants NATO and US type ammo, guns and gear. you get the picture.
With the above mention changes to filling up the weapons boxes with items and guns based upon the size of the crate. A daily quest could be implimented by give any AK variant in raid with at least 50% durability and hand into Prapor. This would get you 15000 roubles or something like that. Another type of daily
could be go into Customs anytime with a SKS and shoot sniper scav at construction for 300 rounds of BS 5.45 ammo. theyre are endless choices for rewards based daily quests that make sense to the game. they would make players have the option of playing with a weapon they may not like or be proficient with and allow
them an easy task that may take a raid or two to complete. It could be something similar to what ubisoft does with the weekly and daily challenges from the Uplay sidebar in Siege but in each trader. get 3 headshots with any pistol, get 2 kills with a grenade, kill 10 scavs with a shotgun on interchange, have a
successful raid on any map 2 times in a row. All these could be given daily to players from all traders for items like ammo, money or weapons attachments.

there is much more I could talk about around this idea of economy changes to add longevity to the game and slow the gear come up some by giving every item a high value rating and importance in game.

WeTrust AMA - October 6 (Originally in Slack, formatted to Reddit)

Hello everyone! It took me a bit longer than last week due to family obligations but here’s the transcript for the third WeTrust Slack AMA! Like last week the majority of the questions were collected through Sli.do and not everyone left their username.

Anonymous When do you plan to start marketing and more social media outreach?
Patrick.WeTrust As we near the rollout of the TLC, we plan on increasing marketing and social media outreach. This is necessary since it is important that we get the word out of what we are building.
Anonymous Are you still on track with the roadmap? When can we see/play with the alpha app?
Patrick.WeTrust The dApp is currently being worked on by our engineering team and is scheduled to be released in a few weeks. The features have been locked down and the team is working hard on building out the many features.
Aakeelr Whitepaper is a must and it shouldn't be delayed. Whatever revised version needs to be done should happen and be visible on the site asap if possible.
Patrick.WeTrust We have an older version of our whitepaper (pre-crowdsale) here: https://bravenewcoin.com/assets/Whitepapers/WeTrustWhitePaper.pdf Our top priority is building out and delivering on the Alpha Release of the TLC and resources are focused on that. Once this is complete and more resources are available, we will update the whitepaper.
Anonymous As a large holder of TRST - how can I be assured recent pushes from the SEC and Trex (theyre cleaning house) will not impact TRST? Do you have legal counsel?
George.WeTrust We're not aware of any changes on Bittrex side, and we've just reached out to them to see if there's any information they need from us. We are very conservative in our approach towards regulatory/ compliance issues, and we will continue as such by working with our legal counsel.
Aakeelr Need more exchanges listing TRST to safeguard the token value from today's incident of Bittrex....
Patrick.WeTrust We stand firmly that delivering a quality product that will impact the lives of many as our prime mission and goal. If we are successful, I believe the exchange issue will be small as many will want to list our Token.
Anonymous Any update on getting the whitepaper back on the website?
Patrick.WeTrust We are working on a new landing page of our Trusted Lending Circle page which will feature a new experience of what our app will be like. This is just a temporary page: https://tlc.wetrust.io/, but the new site will be at this domain soon! (hopefully, next week!)
Jeald Are you going to complete your TLC Alpha build mid-October as per your roadmap?
Patrick.WeTrust Yes, this is the current target. Running 1 week or so behind, but we are trying to push to squeeze for lost time. There will be an update in the next community blog post.
Anonymous The Trusted Lending Circles product due for release in December. Where will it be released? Is it an app for the pc? Will it be accessible on mobile devices?
Patrick.WeTrust Correct. The TLC is slated to be released in December. This first iteration will be a Chrome Web App. In the future, mobile definitely will be on the horizon as a large portion of the world uses mobile and do not have computer.
Dgut Do you guys have any plans to revamp the current wetrust.io design and logo? Some projects like Waves have recently "upgraded" to "professional" design and copy-writing, I think that's the way to go because good design is crucial for user adoption today.
Patrick.WeTrust We have updated the website and will look into the current design of the logo. Thanks for the feedback.
Dgut Updating doesn't equal improvement though. :slightly_smiling_face: The current design has too many flaws. See stripe.com and fleep.io for kick-ass designs. Is this something you guys are taking seriously? Other well designed sites: standuply.com and elev.io ... see the difference?
Patrick.WeTrust Fair enough - I will loop in our designers @hailey.wetrust and @yutai to take a look at what these sites have and takeaways we can make.
Yutai.WeTrust We are very focused on the user experience and adoption. The design team is currently working on make sure we have a smooth UX in the TLC dApp. But we love community feedback and if there is anything else, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Patrick.WeTrust Thanks for chiming in @Yutai!
Anonymous When are you going to do anything besides amas?
George.WeTrust We have a diverse list of channels of communication available -- slack, telegram, bi-weekly updates, bi-weekly AMAs -- let us know if you all think there are any that we should drop and any we should be adding and we're all ears.
Jcga :) Despite hardwork are you guyz ready for the new NBA season via Golden State Warriors, I little feel you dont really care about NBA ;) Go WeTrust !
Patrick.WeTrust Golden State Warriors is our local team :)
Jeald Do you have a roadmap for 2018 available for general viewing? Patrick.WeTrust See answer below.
Boghiumd How i can get to your telegram channel? As i don’t see any links on your website
Patrick.WeTrust Telegram isn't as active yet. I recommend Slack/ Reddit/ Bitcointalk.
BalengiVision Can you send steph curry and kevin durant WeTrust gear when you release TLC?
patrick.WeTrust We can try. They would need to fill out the WeTrust Tshirt Request Form though :)
BalengiVision Lol cool. Do you mind if we tweet at them?
Patrick.WeTrust We can do that sure!
Anonymous Will you be providing a roadmap that covers some part of 2018? It helps investors understand the company's vision.
Patrick.WeTrust Yes, we are working on this and have had some internal discussions already. Our VP of Product, @tomd is working on this now and we will have a few iterations for internal discussions and debate before it is released to the general public.
BalengiVision Release timeframe?
Patrick.WeTrust I will follow up on Tom, and he shared with me a preliminary draft yesterday. We want to have something that is actionable and something we can hold ourselves accountable for. Thus, it will require some work internally before we can release something to the public. Rest assured, it is being worked on and each date is carefully thought about.
BalengiVision Totally understandable!
Patrick.WeTrust Thanks. Cheers, @BalengiVision - thanks for all your support and activity in our Slack.
Aakeelr 2) While planning the TLC has the team reached a point and zeroed on it where the TRST token should claim its value. How will TRST derive its value.
George.WeTrust We are building out a sequence of Financial dApps and will use a "Freemium" model. Essentially, there will be basic features that will be free for our users (e.g., TLCs charge no fees up to 10 users in the circle), but more premium services -- will require some TRST tokens to use (these are currently being planned, and will be included in the roadmap). The main goal is to drive user adoption first, and then monetization after there is a critical mass.
Secunoid What happens when somebody collects their payout and stops contributing after that?
Patrick.WeTrust To thwart bad actors, WeTrust will have four deterrents: 1. Reputation risk/ Reviews: ROSCA groups will be limited to "trusted associates" - family, friends, co-workers, fraternal groups, and professional/ religious organizations. Defaulting on payments could mean social shame and loss of reputation amongst an individual's closest associates. The idea is that for ROSCAs with small enough dollar amount commitments, reputation risk will be sufficient enough to keep participants honest. Reviews may also be left by other members to show how they felt about any participant. 2. Legal risk: ROSCA formation will allow trusted associates to e-sign and bind each other to a legal contract which requires faithful adherence and payment to the ROSCA. Defaulting on payments and stealing could mean legal repercussions. Legal recourse will only be used if individuals are participating in a "high-stakes" ROSCA and legal action would be worthwhile. I've spoken to our legal advisor and she believes it will be possible to create auto-populating templates that will be tailored to each person's ROSCA terms. 3. Collateral risk: Collateral commitments may be required prior to joining a ROSCA. The collateral will be entered into a smart contract which will surrender the property to the ROSCA group if the ROSCA agreement is breached. Collateral can be liquid-cash like assets like Bitcoin or even less liquid assets such as auto/ home titles. Our system will benefit significantly from the ability to accept less liquid assets, since the majority of middle classes’ net worth is locked in real estate. Collateral would allow capital to be used more efficiently. 4. Smart contract bounty (self-enforcement): If a ROSCA participant violates the terms of the ROSCA, the ROSCA group may start a “Bounty” on the retrieval of funds. If the funds are retrieved, the “Bounty” is paid out to the person who enforces the terms of the ROSCA. These deterrent options will be on an "opt-in" basis and participants will be able to choose the level of security they want.
Aakeelr 4) We saw the last update where product functionality has frozen and bugs are being fixed. When do we expect the alpha release precisely?
George.WeTrust We will have an update next week on the status -- we're working hard to hit the initial targets.
Boghiumd Is there a chance to have a discussion with Vitalik that he would somehow confirm directly may be via tweeter post that he actually is suporting this project?
George.WeTrust We met with VB during the early phases of the project, and soon after also brought on Bo Shen (VB's partner at FenBuShi Capital) as an early supporter and advisor. We have a number of advisors and they all provide some help in their own specific capacities. For example, Benedict Chan the Director of Engineering at BitGo is nearby and he often drops by, Emin Gun also checks up on us regularly. We engage with all of advisors as needed and ask them for help if it can materially help the progress of our development or user adoption. As such, we will consider reaching out to him when our product is ready for testing.
BalengiVision That'd be great. Then everyone won't think we have been making stuff up :) Not you guys, but we the people. I tell peeps Vitalik advises early in the project, and people say we are making things up.
Secunoid And how do you manage the risk of delinquent payments?
damo Hey @Secundoid this was answered in the last AMA. Lemme see if I can track it down real quick.
Patrick.WeTrust Here it is: To thwart bad actors, WeTrust will have four deterrents:
  1. Reputation risk/ Reviews: ROSCA groups will be limited to "trusted associates" - family, friends, co-workers, fraternal groups, and professional/ religious organizations. Defaulting on payments could mean social shame and loss of reputation amongst an individual's closest associates. Secundoid k
damo nice thanks @patrick.wetrust One of our community members had a really interesting idea about using a voluntary community pool as an opt-in insurance option that would pay a small percentage of the ROSCA pool to the community pool. An interesting "staking" option for TRST holders! We're looking to provide insurance products anyway right? ;)
Patrick.WeTrust Yes, we are as an evolution of the TLC. @damo
beef Majority of PPL here are selfish enough to admit that they want to see the TRST token become more and more valuable. I've read that it will be used for Premium features, but are there other use cases for the token itself? Does it power dApps in the environment? Can I supply X amount of TRST and use that to fund ROSCA circles?
Patrick.WeTrust That is correct. Another way to think of Trustcoin is that it is the gas that will power various interactions on our network. The current use case we have in mind are premium features (e.g. sort of like a redemption ticket), but please keep in mind that... the mission of WeTrust is to build movement toward financial inclusion/ empowerment and the token will be a core piece of that.
beef The more we are able to cycle TRST through the ecosystem the better. Thanks Patrick
Patrick.WeTrust That is correct. We will be keeping this in mind as we roll out our dApps and other initiatives. Cheers, @beef!
Boghiumd Binance has started to do monthly voting, can you submit a request to them so on next voting wetrust coin will participate as well?
Patrick.WeTrust Is this something the community can request?
Boghiumd @patrick.wetrust actually someone from the team have to submit a request, this is what i read on their website
Patrick.WeTrust Can you email me the link? [email protected]. I'll look into it.
Boghiumd @patrick.wetrust https://binance.zendesk.com/hc/zh-cn/requests/new I presume this one is
Dgut Trustcoin's success is glued to Wetrust. But Wetrust's success is glued to the success of humankind. Any application that simplifies and makes practical the use cryptocurrencies are not only necessary but crucial for the survival of the tech and ideology. Therefore @george.wetrust and @patrick.wetrust should care more about design. (y)
Patrick.WeTrust Thanks for all your feedback and involvement @dgut
Thomas Trustcoin's success is glued to Wetrust. how? i dont get it.. for me it looks like TenX.. they have a token but dont realy need one for the Company... same on Iconomi ... good Projects but they dont need realy a token... i dont get it on TRST ... for me it looks like you dont need realy a token to build this system.. Can you help me to understand this? I am wrong ?
Patrick.WeTrust Another way to think of Trustcoin is that it is the gas that will power various interactions on our network. The current use case we have in mind are premium features (e.g. sort of like a redemption ticket), but please keep in mind that... the mission of WeTrust is to build movement toward financial inclusion/ empowerment and the token will be a core piece of that.
Thomas hmm ok thx
BalengiVision Can you elaborate on the premium features?
Patrick.WeTrust Premium features: lending circles above a certain size (>10 individuals), reporting data to a Credit Agency, accessing a WeTrust ATM to redeem lending circle proceeds, etc... More features will come in due time as we continually iterate and learn from each version of our product.
BalengiVision So credit agencies will accept ROSCA data? Sounds intriguing though I've never heard of that before!
Amazongirl Have you spoken to Ripio (formerly BitPagos) yet about how they handle crypto-fiat exchange risk over a loan's lifetime? https://ripiocredit.network/#benchmarks * *George.WeTrust** We haven't, and will read into how they are able to do this. We are working on some ideas of our own which may bring about stability for users.
Aakeelr @george.wetrust @patrick.wetrust we have some good suggestions from @amazongirl. Would love you guys to actually take a view om that.
Patrick.WeTrust I will take a deeper dive into her suggestions and if I have any questions, will follow up with her.
Aakeelr Thanks for this. You will love her idea
Dgut @patrick.wetrust Are you familiar with https://klart.co/pixels ?
Patrick.WeTrust I am not, but these sites look beautiful.
Dgut Yeah, I hope you guys aim for something like that. It's not rocket surgery either :)
Secunoid Which country/area are you targeting when you go live first?
Patrick.WeTrust Local, immigrant communities within the Bay Area. (SF, CA)
Dgut Hopefully global. The nature of this whole environment and tech is global.
CowMooFlage It definitely is global but they want to be testing close to home.
Dgut It think westerns might be inclined to use the app if it's sufficiently well designed and works well.
damo @dgut see above. Aiming for local immigrant communities
CowMooFlage The biggest issue I see is Westerners not understanding it's purpose because it's not embedded in our culture.
damo Right For that i think there are other permutations of the platform that could take off quicker and be stickier to the global north.
Dgut that's the cool part, it's a completely new thing for them.
Patrick.WeTrust There are pockets of immigrants from Mexico, India, etc. that have used this in the past back home. In fact, my grandmother and father was part of a lending circle back home in Vietnam. We will go after this crowd and do a pilot test in these communities.
BalengiVision I think if the idea is explained well, westerners will love it. I never heard of it until I joined this group.
Dgut Exactly. The reason westerners don't use it is because they never heard of such a concept. When I heard of it I thought... why the f aren't we doing the same? I see it being used among students
Anonymous AmazonGirl from the Slack community as an advisor? She has freely been an amazing one. We need to keep this happening with fair compensation.
George.WeTrust We will reach out to her to gauge her interest -- I think generally we can continue improving our engagement with our community, and leveraging our supporters so we can move faster. We already have a good number of referrals for potential partners, potential pilot groups, folks who would like to work for us, etc... and please do keep them coming!
CowMooFlage George, Patrick, can Damo be listed on the site as a "community manager" or similar position? He's in this channel day in day out answering questions and we love him to bits. By far one of the best people you could ever have doing such a job; humble, cheerful and honest.
Patrick.WeTrust We can have this happen - wonder why this hasn't happened sooner!
CowMooFlage Awesome :) thanks Patrick :D
*Patrick.WeTrust * I will ping @damo for his blurb, picture and get that to @hoang.wetrust as soon as possible. Thanks!
CowMooFlage @damo pink wig?
damo Lol i have waaay better pictures ready to go lol
damo Thanks for such kind words @cowmooflage! I’m seriously blushing over here.
Patrick.WeTrust Thanks! both of you :D Bradicle Yeaaaa agree. Damo has been the face for We Trust in this chat since day one for me. Answering all the hard hitting questions day in and out <3 :B
Anonymous When are you ditching slack? The phishing is out of control!
George.WeTrust We have been testing with Rocket Chat internally, and are currently working towards migration. We will have more information on the timing, next week, but we want this to be as soon as possible, in the balance of our product development focus.
CowMooFlage Can't wait to check out the new home.
Jcga That a pity, Slack is nice compared to the others. I do believe the myetherw... phishing mail notification have decreased, they "collect" nothing. Slack is beautifull with cool features that others dont. Anyway security is super important and with time we will get used to the new place :slightly_smiling_face:
CowMooFlage @jcga Slack is a decent platform but it lacks certain control features and flexibility that others have (e.g. the moderation tools were not made to support thousands of users).
Jcga Yes sure I understand the priorities.
BalengiVision I definitely see US college students being a great test group!
Patrick.WeTrust Yes! There are lots of community college, Stanford, Berkeley... all within 20-30 miles of our office.
BalengiVision Exactly. Remember, facebook started off with colleges...now look at it. Once they all graduated, they took the idea with them and BOOM!
CowMooFlage Plus, didn't you go there yourself @patrick.wetrust? You could have a professor introduce it to students even? They might be open to it as you're an ex-grad?
Patrick.WeTrust Yes, I went to UC Berkeley and @george.wetrust was at Stanford. @U2M8H6DUJ also went to Berkeley and @shinelay to Davis. Definitely will be rekindling some old connections with my old professors :)
CowMooFlage @patrick.wetrust It's always nice to come back with something to show off! :>
Dgut @BalengiVision absolutely ... there is no reason for this to be immigrant-communities only. WeTrust can become a lot stronger if adopted by those groups (students) ...
Kimutai @BalengiVision . Good idea In fact @patrick.wetrust . Students will show us all the flaws and a good number of unheard of issues. All their diversity of ideas is an untapped Gold mine.
CowMooFlage Students can be very bold and open about expressing their opinions. Might be a fun brain storm session.
Patrick.WeTrust As long as there is a good mix of supply and demand for credit - there is a potential opportunity there. An idea we have been bouncing around... if we could somehow match students (seeking credit) with alumni (that have the wherewithal to contribute to a loan), we could have a large user group here!
BalengiVision Interesting concept
Patrick.WeTrust yes, it is :slightly_smiling_face:
damo I like this. Another connect for Westerners is in auction ROSCAs where they intentionally take the money last as a way to earn a modest return providing capital to the developing world. I'll definitely be doing this.
Thanks to everyone for participating in this week's AMA.

Long live decentralized bitcoin: A reading list

Newbs might not know this, but bitcoin recently came out of an intense internal drama. Between July 2015 and August 2017 bitcoin was attacked by external forces who were hoping to destroy the very properties that made bitcoin valuable in the first place. This culminated in the creation of segwit and the UASF (user activated soft fork) movement. The UASF was successful, segwit was added to bitcoin and with that the anti-decentralization side left bitcoin altogether and created their own altcoin called bcash. Bitcoin's price was $2500, soon after segwit was activated the price doubled to $5000 and continued rising until here we are today at $15000.

I have made it clear about the definition of ‘release,’ which is not ‘public.’”"

So, to move $10,000 worth of Bitcoin from your own wallet to your bank account would cost 1.74 Bitcoins for the actual value, plus either $14.9 USD or .00259 Bitcoin for the transfer fee. This is a fairly standard transfer for most of the verified markets and exchanges. There are other options for turning Bitcoin into conventional money. Second, if all of this went to Bitcoin, how much would a Bitcoin be worth? There are currently 16,752,000 bitcoins which gives a calculation of $800 billion/16752000 = $47,755 per Bitcoin . Bitcoin's price has been on a wild ride since its inception. 2017 alone saw massive gains, starting the year at under $1,000 and, at its peak, breaking $19,000, according to industry site CoinDesk. Bitcoin has a production cost. In other words, people who mine it do not mine it for free. They exchange their computing power for the digital asset. It is quite funny when people criticize Bitcoin because they think it is backed by nothing. The truth is that there is an ongoing debate on the fact that the U.S dollar is also backed by nothing. James Howells of Wales is one of the Bitcoin communitys most tragic figures. Last June, Howells inadvertently tossed a hard drive containing 7,500 bitcoins , which he had mined back when they were worth very little. Now that a bitcoin is worth somewhere around $1000, that drive has an estimated worth of $7.5 million.
